Word Battle is an exciting and addictive, real time, multiplayer word game. You can choose your opponents either from friend and family cycle, or wide Games.com user audience. Gameplay: each user is given the same 9 random letters where each letter has some value assigned. In 40 seconds you need to come up with a word, which gives you as much points as possible. It is up to you what strategy you choose to win a battle. The one with the highest word score wins. Word building is really fun! Moreover, the ability to compete with others makes it even more gripping.

Love the game .Getting quite addicted. Find myself being drawn to my lappy all the time, just to play this game.  I do get frustrated when the tiles wont settle and I end up with X  cos time runs out, but I must admit it makes me try even harder for the remainder, and have succeeded regardless!

Getting really frustrated with the dictionary - so many valid words not included.

I have worked out how to put my picture on but it doesn't appear on the game board - why what have I done wrong.    I was told it took a few days before it appeared on the game board - I have waited a week now.

Can anyone tell me how you can "friend" someone to add to your friend list?  Can you only invite them when both of you are in the same game?  If so, is there a secret on how you get in the same game when there's so many players?  No matter how my friends and I try, we can never get in the same game so we can friend each other.  So frustrating!

The vocabulary/dictionary/ list of accepted words for this game is really awful.  I can understand accepting many slang words that have become part of the vernacular, but I just played a game where 2 players put in "wice" and it was accepted.  There is no definition for "wice" not even in the Urban dictionary.  What is the point of having a list of accepted words when anything and everything seems to be accepted willy-nilly.   I had a similar problem with "hauliest".  For sure, "haul" is a word, but hauliest is not.  Have you ever opted to clean up the files or will we just have to accept this travesty?

Just started playing this week.  Wondering how do you send an invite to a friend to add to your friend list?

I've never used the spy feature, but I bet some people do. It's a complete joke to have it. Bad enough that some people buy coins and can endlessly check words, add time and add letters. Speaking of which, while it's not against the rules, I find it kind of punk play to throw up a bunch of letters at the end of a round. I win as often as lose when somebody does it, but it's often done by somebody who's way behind and has no real chance and isn't trying to do anything but disrupt the game for the players who do. Almost like turning over the board becasue they're losing. Again, not against the rules, but a pretty cheesy thing to do.

I love this game but there is definitely problems with the spelling of words that you the maker of the game acknowledge as correct spelling when it is not.  Also a lot of these words are not even in a dictionary so how can  you consider them a word?   I am not the only one complaining about this problem,  Plus one time I used a word that was given points to another player in a different game but when I used it, it was not acceptable.   Let's make the rules for everyone and not just a few.

Also the comment by trubysm below mine is shows problems I have also seen given points for which are not correct  like his example

.

Just started playing today-like to try new word games-was wondering why you have to sign in - well, apparently they want people to get hooked on the game then spend real money to buy tokens ETC .Really like the game but  can play w/o extra tokens-you win some, lose some-HEY,it's just a game! Did quite well, considering being a 'newbie'-do play SCRABBLE & MOJO,etc. so am used to looking for words quickly. Did not have any trouble placing tiles (typing would be too slow for me) but WAS a bit perturbed  when a plural word was accepted - KNIFES(when adding S to knife-  it changes to V>KNIVES!)  ALL IN ALL, IT IS A FUN GAME!

the game would be much better if they did not put fake people on here to cheat, the ones with no pics are cheats and also if people did not write down their words ahead of time then type in the letters needed to  spelling out  the word. lol

I played a game against 'Kathy' yesterday, who had an 80% winning rate. Mine is 42%.

When I played the word Floozy, which put me in the lead on the third round, she said 'you can't beat a cheat, bye' and disappeared.

How rude some people can be - I think if I did cheat I'd have a winning rate of 80% too!!!

This game is fun, but it would be soooo much better if it allowed us to type our words, rather than click or drag!

This message board wouldn't let me post a message with the word "ylalraci" in it (you experts can figure it out).  Oh the irony of it all.  I wasn't talking about censorship in any way -- it was about having respect for other people.

@rednaxelaennyl  I agree, but also lots of strange words accepted.   No one professes to know all words but come on "Games Controllers" whoever you are have some guidelines on which dictionaries are used. One day a word is acceptable - the next its  disallowed.    A player used the word binmen which was allowed - I argued it wasn't in a dictionary she argued it was a refuse collector - I agreed I knew the meaning of it I disagreed with the use of it  - she was in England and said it was an everyday word -  to me that doesn't mean it is in any dictionary.  Then one player used shoeman which was disallowed - it means a cobbler - why is one allowed and one not.

@KGIRARDOT2  We went to the tournament games and clicked on the one with 16 players.  You need to do this at the same time.  When u see her name, click on it and add her as a friend.

@Bevcal60

Witchhazel(n). 1540s, probably from Old English wice "Applied generally or vaguely to various trees having pliant branches" [OED], from wican "to bend," related to weak (see vicarious) + hæsel, used for any bush of the pine family (see hazel n.)). The North American bush, from which a soothing lotion is made, was so called from 1670s. This is the source of the verb witch in dowsing.

Week (n). Old English wucu, wice, etc., from Proto-Germanic *wikon (cognates: Old Norse vika, Old Frisian wike, Middle Dutch weke, Old High German wecha, German woche), probably originally with the sense of "a turning" or "succession" (compare Gothic wikon "in the course of," Old Norse vika "sea-mile," originally "change of oar," Old English wican "yield, give way"), from PIE root *weik- (4) "to bend, wind" (see vicarious). The vowel sound seems to have been uncertain in Old and Middle English and -e-, -i-, -o-, -u-, -y-, and various diphthongs are attested for it.

"Meaning primarily 'change, alteration,' the word may once have denoted some earlier time division, such as the 'change of moon, half month,' ... but there is no positive evidence of this" [Buck]. No evidence of a native Germanic week before contact with the Romans. The seven-day week is ancient, probably originating from the 28-day lunar cycle, divisible into four periods of seven day, at the end of each of which the moon enters a new phase. Reinforced during the spread of Christianity by the ancient Jewish seven-day week.

As a Roman astrological convention it was borrowed by other European peoples; the Germanic tribes substituting their own deities for those of the Romans, without regard to planets. The Coligny calendar suggests a Celtic division of the month into halves; the regular Greek division of the month was into three decades; and the Romans also had a market week of nine days.
Greek planetary names [for the days of the week] ... are attested for the early centuries of our era, but their use was apparently restricted to certain circles; at any rate they never became popular. In Rome, on the other hand, the planetary names became the established popular terms, too strongly intrenched to be displaced by the eccl[esiastical] names, and spreading through most of western Europe. [Buck]
Phrase a week, as in eight days a week recorded by 1540s; see a-1).

@Bevcal60   Wice is an acronym.. I don't know if other acronyms are acceptable.. but it would be interesting to know.. And yes, you are absolutely right, this game is a travesty...x

@kathywanglie Keep an ear on the timer, you have 40 secs to find a word. Sometimes there are letters left, but try to use letters that will give you the highest  points.Read the game rules how to get higher points.

Hope this helps. Keep playing...and Good Luck!

@trubysm  i agree with the knives theory  with a "v" but think of it... if you knife someone   or  he knifes me...that would be correct with an "S"

@MzLuckieCharm LOL what?? Because I don't have a picture now, I'm a cheat...O.o It gets better and better every time I read things like this. Explain the theory behind this statement. Wow do you people not know how to enjoy a game...

How do they get their words ahead of time?

@jbash

I think that may be the same person who threw a hissy fit when I played "vlogger." Came to me completely by accident. Played "logger" and then saw that "v" sitting there and threw it on. I think I ruined her day and she did the same thing, branded me a cheat and sulked off.

That said, there are some legit great players, but when you see someone pulling out four very long, Greek-sounding words you've never heard of in a row, well, odds are...

jancie49

@jbash  I played with someone with 89%.    I left at the end of the game as I felt she was a cheat.

@michael222  When you want to play tournaments, you need chips. 100 for 20 sec rounds 100 for 40 sec rounds and 500 for 16 player.

@FROGDOC13  I agree = dragging the tiles and clicking is hit and miss at times - the tiles jump around and time runs out and you miss out scoring. while your trying to get the tiles to settle and very annoying.  Typing the words would be so  much easier I think

Binman...Binmen... a word..informal, but a word, because it has become such a common term that it is now in a dictionary. I cannot give answer to why Shoeman isn't allowed, we don't call cobblers 'Shoemen' here..in Britain - as far as I am aware anyway. But if Shoeman is a common word for a cobbler then it should be in a dictionary as that somewhere.  Are you sure people call cobblers 'shoemen' in general? Binman IS part of the British English language and has been for a long time now.

@jancie49 @KGIRARDOT2 Thanks Jancie49 for the help.  I'll give it a try.  You would think that they would tell you how you friend in the game directions.  It's been so frustrating trying to add your friends to your friend list .  The only way I knew how to do it was your friend had to be in the same game and you click on their picture and invite them as a friend.  Difficult to do when there are so many players online.  What are the odds both of you would get in the same game?  Thanks again.

@arizonasshine I believe trubysm is correct. That would be "if you knifed someone and he knifed me. Don't believe knifes is a correct word.
