Play Spades, a card game all about bids, blinds and bags, for free on Games.com. Play online alone or multiplayer with a friend in this four player trick taking classic This is one of the best Spades games online that you can find. Spades is a partnered trick-taking card game in which the object is for each pair or partnership to take the least number of tricks they bid on before play begins. Spades is a descendant of the Whist family of card games, which includes Bridge, Hearts, and Oh, Hell. The major difference with Spades is instead of trumps being decided by the highest bidder or at random, the spade suit is always trump, hence the name “Spades”. CHEATS & TIPS Seat Positions Matter A two-bid hand in the first position could be a nil hand in the second. In the second seat, a hand may be a two-bid and in the fourth it would have to be a three or four-bid. Carefully consider all the information you have at hand before making your bid. If you’re in the second seat, you should think about the bid that is already on the table, what cards you’re holding, and the score before bidding. A bidder in the fourth seat, however, has a wealth of information at hand for their bid. Paying attention to your position before making your bid makes a big difference in the outcome of the game. Lead High Non-Spades Early, Save High Spades Late As high a card as it may seem, you have to remember that any non-spade can be trumped. If you play the Ace of Diamonds on the first round of diamonds, it probably won’t be beaten. But on the fourth round of diamonds, it probably will. High Spades, however, cannot be trumped. Holding the Ace of Spades is crucial to keeping the lead in the game. If you play your Ace, you relinquish control to the King of Spades, then the Queen of Spades, etc. Bait Out the Ace of Spades If you don't have the Ace of Spades, you may think that you are already out of the game, but you may still have a shot. If you have the King or Queen of Spades, force the player with the Ace to waste it. Generally, drop lower spade cards to force out the higher ones. If you play a higher spade, the other players may play lower spades, and then you grab a bag. If you lead a Queen or King spade like this, the spades will flood and any player with just a single spade (hopefully that evil Ace) will have to part with it. If All Else Fails, Go Blind When you fall far behind and a player comes close to winning, you may need to go blind (bet without checking your cards), so that you can double your points for that hand. This could be your last shot at winning, and at worst, you would have lost anyways.
